V-Blog Interviews Karen Gillan at the TV Choice Awards
QS: Do you help at all when planning Amy Pond’s costumes on Doctor Who?
KAREN: “Yes, I actually had a really big input into those as, for me, I think that what somebody wears says a lot about them. It says so much about who you are, or who you want to be.
And she’s young and she’s fun and she’s confident and sassy; she’s never gonna mope around after the doctor being all in love with him! She knows she looks good in mini dresses and tight tops and she wears those to make herself feel good.”
QS: How would you describe your style?
KAREN: “I like loads of seventies and sixties kind of stuff. I love flared jeans when I’m causal. If I’m dressing up then I’ll wear a maxi dress or a shift dress”
QS: Are there any celebrities whose style you admire?
KAREN: “I really like Alexa Chung’s style – she’s so effortless and cool and so not-try-hard. I love how she can make a tunic or dungarees look cool”
QS: Do you prefer flats or heels?
Karen: “I prefer the feeling of flats and the look of high heels. They improve your posture and the way you present yourself. I mean, I still have a pair of flats in my bag for later.”
QS: If you could give any celebrity a makeover, who would it be?
KAREN: Celebrity? Can I choose myself? I think I need a makeover! I just like having them, cos they’re fun. I don’t know… Actually, I’d like to make over Marilyn Manson or Lady Gaga and just dress them really normally to see what they look like. I want to see them both in jeans.”
